The Grote Kerk or St Nicholas Church has been a place of worship in Monnickendam for centuries. In the early days, the Roman Catholic Eucharist was celebrated there. But since the Reformation in the 16th century, church services have had a more Protestant character. These services fall under the responsibility of the church council of the Protestant community in Monnickendam. Church services are not held every Sunday in the Grote Kerk. You can find a calendar of church services (in Dutch but clear enough to follow for non-Dutch speakers) on Kerkplein Monnickendam (the church forum). You are most welcome to attend our church services in the Grote Kerk.
